SUTHERLAND Shire Council's business development week has been hailed as a success, with more than 470 people attending the various sessions.

A spokeswoman said the week included free seminars, workshops and networking sessions.

``Business Development Week is organised and facilitated by Sutherland Shire Council's economic development unit to support the growth, development, success and employment potential of local businesses,'' she said.

Agencies which collaborated on the week's program included the St George and Sutherland Business Enterprise Centre, NSW Department of State and Regional Development, Australian Institute of Export, Tradestart, Ausindustry, Enterprise Connect, Australian Business Limited, Australian Industry Group, Australian Bureau of Statistics, the Rendezvous group, National Australia Bank, The Frank Team, Sutherland Business Education Network, TAFE and Tourism NSW.

The spokeswoman said most attendees were small-business operators, including home-based businesses.
