FORWARD leader Paul Gallen has vowed his NSW team will put the pressure back on favourites, Queensland, from the opening whistle of tomorrow night's State of Origin III the decider.
The Cronulla captain said the Blues would control the ball much better than Origin II and give the big ANZ Stadium crowd something to cheer about.
``We've been a lot more relaxed between [training] sessions, although the sessions have been very intense,'' said Gallen yesterday, enjoying the NSW rest day. ``We've forgotten all about Brisbane and we go into the decider full of confidence.''
While Gallen and his side don't hide the fact they have worked hard on nullifying the brilliance of the Queensland backs, such as Johnathon Thurston and Greg Inglis, the Blues know they have to improve with their own ball handling.
``We couldn't put them under the pressure we wanted to in Brisbane because we didn't control the ball well. Just too many mistakes.
``You'll see a much improved side in that area. We've also put a lot of work in on improving our kick and chase.''
While the Maroons are justified favourites, simply because of their more brilliant set of backs, from No.1 through to No.7, Gallen, Mason and company want to send off retiring hooker, captain Danny Buderus, with a win.
Much will depend on the referee's interpretations around the ruck area where NSW were penalised heavily last time.
Gallen knows the most brilliant side can always come unstuck as some of the more brilliant club sides have done against the Sharks this season.
``I think at Homebush, in front of a packed house, the tide can certainly turn,'' Gallen said. ``We want to make it two from two at ANZ''.
And put some of the knockers in their place to boot.
Inside: Poore happy for Dragons' sixth straight win.
