Sharks put the bite on Titans

3/06/2008 4:00:00 AM
CRONULLA Sharks sparked into life in the second half of their game against the Gold Coast Titans at Toyota Stadium on Sunday.

A below-par first half performance was replaced by a significantly more robust attacking display, which netted them three tries in 11 minutes and a convincing 30-14 victory.

Returning goal-kicking winger, Luke Covell, bagged 18 of the 30 points from two tries and five goals in the wet conditions, while exciting centre Ben Pomeroy also crossed twice for tries, with Origin player Greg Bird grabbing the side's fifth try.

The only down side was the injury to outside back, David Simmons (dislocated shoulder) who is likely to miss the Sharks' next game, against the Panthers at Penrith on Sunday.
