In response to June Wilson “Good businesses keep clients” (Your View, May 15)
I wonder where the thousands of residents in her immediate area shop for fresh fish, shoes, clothes for middle aged people (I think she means elderly) and conduct their banking. If she thinks that, any time soon, they will all be able to enjoy the delights of a shopping centre and park at the end of Flora Street she must believe in the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and garden fairies.
I have lived in Gymea, on the border of Kirrawee, for 48 years and have lost count of the number of proposals and suggestions that have been put forward to make use of the old brickpit site.
It’s all a bit like Sydney’s second airport; the F6 extension from the airport to Sutherland; Morris Iemma’s Metro Rail Link and Kevin Rudd’s computer for every child. None of it will happen in our lifetime.
My suggestion, therefore, is that M/s Wilson keep patronising her current fishmonger, shoe and clothing stores and banking arrangements. (I wasn’t aware that the proposal included a bank)
I cannot believe that her neighbours, who do not drive, would be willing and able to lug bags of groceries etc from the proposed supermarkets along Flora Street to Acacia Road.
I say, put a stop to it all now. Fill the hole, revegetate the area and leave it as open space for present and future generations to enjoy.
